| A warp-ikat cotton hinggi hipcloth from east Sumba. The hinggi woven on a backstrap loom with hand-spun and naturally dyed cotton is decorated with motifs of Komodo monitor lizards and other animals measuring 96" in length and 48" wide. Warp-ikat hinggis are woven at Rende and Kaliuda and at Prailiu and Pau, which are also centers for supplementary warp-weaving. |
