Kuba

The Kuba, located between the Sankuru and Kasai rivers in the Democratic Republic of Congo are known for their exceptional textiles.  Both men and women contribute to the production of textiles made from raffia palm.  While men are responsible for weaving the cloth, women practice a range of embroidery techniques.  A cloth such as this measuring 82" in length and 21" wide would be worn as a skirt by wrapping it around the waist multiple times.
