The topil is the Bontoc 'lunch box' and is used by individual workers to carry food to the fields to sustain themselves through a long day of work.  Topil of differing forms are made in the various Bontoc villages.  It would once have had a cordlike handle threaded through the loops on the lid to keep the lid attached and to provide for ease in carrying.  This topil measures 7 1/4" in length and 4" in height.
