| A fine, old, authentic Marka (Warka) mask from the people of Mali. This beautiful elongated mask is covered with old metal sheeting (either brass or copper)and hand made tacks with a fine figure on the top of the mask. This mask measures 17 1/2" in height and was thought to be extremely powerful in that it could frighten away evil spirits, convey messages from the spirit world and cure illnesses. These masks were also used during wedding ceremonies. |
