| A carved box from the Kuba culture measuring 9 1/2" in length and 5 3/4" wide. These boxes were made by the Kuba to store red wood powder (Twool) used as a cosmetic or a a dye for cloth. The boxes take many forms, from abstract to figurative. Surface decoration is intricately and skillfully executed with specific names and meanings. |
